DEWALT DWE6420 and DWE6421 are random orbit sanders from DEWALT. Both these sanders are great and are meant for specific purpose. Let’s first go through the specs of both these sanders.

As you can see, most of the specifications are almost same. However, DWE6420 comes with a PSA pad, and DWE6421 comes with Hook and Loop.
For DWE6420, you would need to peel and stick the sandpaper, however for DWE6421 you would need to align the sandpaper holes with sander.

Reasons to go with DWE6420
- You are performing a large job
- You don’t have to change the grits
- You are sanding with lower grits like 100 and below
Reasons not to go with DWE6420
- Parts (like PSA pad etc) are hard to find at your local hardware store
- Not compatible with many vacuum systems with 1-1/4″” hoses, you may need to buy an adapter DWV9000 Universal Quick Connector
DEWALT DWE6421
Reasons to go with DWE6421
- This sander is good if you are performing small jobs
- Your job requires you to change the grits
- You need good dust control
Reasons not to go with DWE6421
- Wears out quickly, so not ideal for longer sanding jobs
